Chandika Mendis

After working for 25+ years in senior technology leadership roles in large IT services organizations, I started working in an area I've always been passionate about: working with startups as a fractional CTO, Advisor and an Angel Investor. Recent advances in technologies such as Generative AI/Large Language Models, Metaverse and more have created a generational opportunity for many startups and I feel privileged to be helping startups that are part of this revolution!

My passion for coding was born thanks to the Sinclair ZX Spectrum my father bought me at age 14. I enjoyed building games more than playing them, and among others, built a spreadsheet of sorts to manage my stock investments (yes, the investment world was always my competing passion). Have not looked back since!

I am passionate about building innovative technology solutions that solve the challenges and pain-points of our clients and teams, leveraging lean startup and empathy driven design to create a big impact without breaking the bank. I find it exhilarating to use my expertise and skills to help our clients achieve and exceed their goals!

I feel comfortable being hands-on and working closely with engineers while engaging with the c-suite as a trusted advisor leading with consultative selling and striving for flawless execution. 

I joined Virtusa when they were just 300 and was privileged to see it grow to 40000+ when I left in 2023. As part of their senior leadership team, I watched them IPO on NASDAQ in 2007 (possibly the worst time to do so!) and then being taken private in a $2B transaction in 2021. At Virtusa I had the privilege of leading the innovation teams that created award winning IP that was a key part of their strategic competitive advantage and growth (see portfolio). The teams under my purview won the Stevie Award for the best IT Team, the Gold Stevie for the most Innovative Technology Company as well as the Best Product awards in multiple categories.
